The idea came about with my best friend Bec during the overwhelm of COVID lockdowns. Bec and I had come out of the fog of having babies and toddlers, looking back on how intense that period was and also trying to understand how to find balance going forward. Bec and I chat daily, and in most of our conversations we were sharing our overwhelm of the juggle, the different hats we wear as women, and asking how on earth other women were coping and doing life?! We decided to take it online, and to be fair Bec pushed me to do it with her, as her background is film and TV, but we haven’t looked back.
We have learnt so much, created a community we are proud of, and also wanted to push back on social media to remove the perfection filter to provide relatable conversations and short-circuited guidance from experts to help us all, in a fast pace, time poor, modern world of womanhood.

Further to what Zoe mentioned, the seed was a little deeper for me. My mum passed away from cancer when I was 12, and she was a single mum working full time in real estate raising 3 children, whilst terminally ill with Lymphoma. She never let a ball drop, except for her own well being. As I reached each milestone of work, marriage and children, it was hitting harder and deeper just how impossible the juggle is.
I asked Zoe to join me on this venture of creating Not Super. Woman, not only because I didn’t have the confidence to go it alone after being a homemaker for 8 years and feeling invisible, but because I was doing it in fear of history repeating itself, so pushing back on the pressure my mum must of felt back then, and the pressure I have been feeling across all facets as I have gotten older.

Our hanging tape says “ Beauty captures your eye, but personality captures your heart.” As a brand we like to work with women who are clever with a message that resonates with ours. How do you choose the guests for Not Super Woman? What qualities or insights do you look for to ensure they’ll bring valuable perspectives to the podcast?
We always try to stay true to our interests, social concerns and to authenticity. In the era of reality TV, pop culture and click bait, we have found a lot of the content around us exhausting. Most of it feels manipulated and filtered and as listeners or viewers of other content, it always led us to feel somewhat isolated as we weren’t as cool, or pretty, or established and in turn the lack of relatability made us feel small. We really wanted a space where even if we interview a powerhouse, we cut through the crap to get to the good stuff - Where they really stuffed up, what they wish they did differently, how they struggle with the juggle - Content that is real, honest, vulnerable, raw and relatable whilst also informative and inspirational to real women.

Some rippa’s are:
- Season 1 Ep 2 - Cookbook Author / Food Content Creator Sarah Pound (@wholesomebysarah) ‘Just own what you’re doing” as women have a tendency to talk ourselves down. If you start talking about an idea you want to do, talk positively about it rather than play it down. It will keep you inspired and hold you to account. Listen here.
- Season 1 Ep 8 - Clinical Psychologist - Dr. Emily Musgrove “You can’t care for anybody from a place of an empty cup” Made us realise how we soldier on when we are depleted thinking we will deal with our needs later, and yet it’s the worst thing you can do for yourself and for those you love that surround you. Listen here.
- Season 2 Ep 14 - World Renowned Australian Artist - CJ Hendry - “F*ck around and find out” - Just stop thinking so much and start doing, and you will be surprised with what you learn and achieve and how quickly you can make traction! Listen here.
- Season 2 Ep 19 - Australian TV Presenter and Singer - Gorgi Coghlan - “Nothing is ever wasted” - Through all the crap we go through, we learn so much more than we realise, so whilst it’s hard in the moment when you look back you will see the wisdom upon reflection. Listen here.
We literally could keep listing things from every episode.. ha!

Is there a particular guest story that resonated with you both the most so far?
Jess Armstrong - Founder of FUCA Organic Skincare, is a young mum who was diagnosed when pregnant with her 3rd child, with stage 3 breast cancer. With two little ones at home she underwent 18 months of chemo, and throughout that whilst she had every right to fall a part she leaned in and educated herself about what was happening to her only to learn that skincare ranges and fragrances are incredibly toxic for women, but especially for women who are undergoing treatment and are immuno compromised. With this knowledge, whilst in treatment she founded FUCA a purely organic skin care range that is safe to use and has no nasties for women, or women in treatment. Furthermore, she aligned FUCA with The Breast Cancer Network Australia and the Otis Foundation that offers holiday accommodation for women and families who are in treatment but need a no cost break. Jess to us is the epitome of strength, the power to educating yourself and heart of what it is to give back. A women that certainly tests our title of Not being SuperWoman. https://www.notsuper-woman.com/episode-040
